Review: Heat It Up (Off the Ice #1) by Stina Lindenblatt

***3 Stars***

This is the first book by author that I have read and I was really drawn in by both the amazingly sexy cover and the blurb. While I couldn't stop reading this book, there were characters and situations that absolutely drove me nuts!
We have Kyle, who played professional hockey until a tragic accident kills his wife and he is left horribly injured. On the other hand, we have Sophia who is done with dating after she catches her boyfriend cheating on her. She then runs away to Finland for a summer work exchange program where instead of doing something career related like she thought she ends up having to clean toilets. Her first interaction with Kyle is in the sauna, with him naked. They have an instant attraction to one another. While I instantly fell in love with Kyle I could not stand Sophia! Her grandmother tries to set her up with a good Finnish man, Joni, but love and relationships are the furthest thing from her mind so she recruits Kyle to be her fake boyfriend to fool them both. They have instant chemistry and their first kiss is absolutely swoon worthy. Although they grow to be the best of friends the chemistry between these two is off the charts! While Sophia is falling for Kyle, Joni is always trying to sabotage their relationship and prove to Sophia that Kyle will cheat on her. I hated Joni and Sophia drove me nuts with her absolute ignorance of the whole Joni situation. She claims they are just friends but you can tell that Joni is blatantly trying to get with her and ultimately sabotage her and Kyle's friendship. There ends up being this whole big twist/reveal at the end that I totally guessed was going to happen from the beginning so the book was pretty predictable.
This book is filled with sexy hockey players, angst, passion, love, and drama. Although I didn't quite love the entirety of this book, I would take a chance and read more from this author.

Some games are hotter off the ice…

Sofia Phillips feels cursed. Her father cheated on her mother, her boyfriend cheated on her—she’s done with dating. A summer work-exchange program in Finland is the perfect escape. But instead of gaining experience as an athletic trainer, she’s cleaning toilets. Awesome. The trip is a disaster, and even better, she meets Kyle Bennett. In the sauna. Naked.

Sexy hockey player Kyle was the star right wing for an NHL team. But after an accident killed his wife and left him injured, Kyle has appreciated the “therapeutic” benefits of booze and puck bunnies. Now in Finland for the summer, he’s coaching in an elite hockey-training camp for teens. When Sofia's grandmother decides to set her up with a nice Finnish man, Sofia recruits Kyle as her make-believe boyfriend. Neither expects their first kiss to sizzle. And neither expects, while stranded on an island during a storm, to have a scorching night of passion.

But as their charade, and then their attraction, develops into something deeper, the past comes back, threatening to destroy them. They must decide if their feelings for each other are strong enough to survive—or it will be game over.
