 Release Date: March 31, 2015

Synopsis

When faced with a challenge, it’s best to pool your resources.

Liam Mattson used to play his wife’s body like a fine violin. Until a logging accident dampened his fine motor skills and rendered his legs—and the most important part of his below-the-waist playground—useless.

If only Liam would throw himself into therapy with the same vigor he used to throw her into bed, Ivy is sure he’d fully recover. But lately she’s felt adrift, while he’s stuck in self-pity and pre-occupation with a serious threat to his logging business.

When Ward Bose returns from the backwoods, Liam isn’t blind to the heated, guilty glances between his best friend and his wife. And he takes a step he never could have taken if his legs were working—ask Ward to service Ivy in bed.

The moment the three come together, Ward’s heartstrings are tied in knots, and Liam holds them in his fist. But secrets they’re each keeping could tear them all apart…unless they can find a way to share their burdens as easily as they share their love.

Fevered Hearts by Em Petrova

This was a quick read for me but a very hot and enjoyable quick read. I love ménage stories especially when there is M/M involvement and this book certainly delivered. I have to say it is unusual in the erotica genre to find a book with a physical disability especially one that causes erectile dysfunction but the author handles the issues sensitively and brilliantly.

Ward has been out of town for a number of years working as a logger out West and obviously running from something in his past. On his return home to take over his sick fathers logging company and while staying with his sister he encounters Ivy who he feels an instant connection and attraction to which his sister soon dismisses by informing him she is the wife of his friend Liam. He also learns that Liam has suffered a severe accident as a fellow logger and is now confined to a wheelchair. Liam’s name conjures up a number of feelings in Ward that he tries to ignore.

Liam is not coping with his long term injuries at all and has become angry and embittered by the turn his life has took, logging was his life and he was set to take over his family’s logging business, something he no longer envisions. His marriage to Ivy is falling apart due to his reluctance to accept any therapy and his depressive state. Poor Ivy is working to keep them afloat following Liam’s accident but she is quickly running out of patience with Liam and their situation.

However once Ward picks up the courage to visit Liam things begin to change for them all. Old feelings that Liam has kept hidden even from his wife come back in an instance and when he quickly picks up on the attraction between his wife and his ex-lover a plan begins to form in his mind as to how he can save his marriage and ensure his wife is satisfied.

Wow the scenes between these three are hot and so well written that you forget at times that Liam isn’t able to fully participate. These guys are built as you can imagine being loggers and they both have dirty mouths which I love, Ivy is a lucky lady. Ivy soon learns of their past together and is accepting of this dynamic to their relationship which pleases Liam and Ward even more and the scenes get even hotter.

Liam is soon encouraged to engage with physical therapy and their home life begins to improve however other factors around their logging businesses begin to throw them all into danger. Wards father takes a turn for the worse. Ivy is also encountering difficulties with a character at work and the inevitable gossip begins. Doubts creep in as to their individual dynamics in this budding relationship especially when Liam shows signs of improvement. Can they overcome all these obstacles and find love together forever?

Review: Redemption Lane (Crossroads #1) by Rachel Blaufeld

*****5 Stars*****

The story starts out with 21 year old Bess, who after struggling with the memories of her childhood, turned to drink and drugs, anything she could get her hands on, in a way to try and forget. She got dragged to a yoga class by her friend Camper, and disaster happens when she collapses. Hopefully this will be the wakeup call she needs?
Lane was an up and coming CEO who was always fixing his brother Jake's mess, and is less than impressed when he gives in again and does Jake a favour at the gym that he owns and ends up having to deal with a young woman who literally collapses at his feet.
Four years later, Lane meets Bess again but she has no idea who he is, she doesn't remember a thing about the night she almost died.
I absolutely loved this book! I have read the authors other books, Electrified and Smouldered which are both very good but this is easily my favourite.
Lane and Bess with both dealing with the troubled childhood they both had, but in very different ways.
I was gripped to the story all the way through and it was packed with twists and a few shocks!
The story is written in multiple POV which I love! I feel that you get to know the characters a bit more and get to know their thoughts and feelings of each of them.
I can't wait for Absolution Road to be released, although Lane and Jake are brothers it's clear that they are very different and I'm looking forward to finding out how much in Jake's story.

Sometimes the past bleeds into the future.

Bess, a wild party girl running from herself, literally falls victim to her demons when she collapses in the most unexpected of places.
Lane, a tightly wound, up-and-coming CEO who can’t seem to stop enabling his brother, doesn’t know what hit him when Bess falls at his feet and into his life.

It was a night she doesn’t remember, and one he can’t forget.

But rather than stay and help the needy college coed, Lane decides to teach his brother a long overdue lesson––a decision that later comes back to haunt him and only adds fury to the transgressions of his past he is already fleeing from.
Years later, Bess and Lane meet again. She doesn’t know him, and he doesn’t share that he knows what happened on that ill-fated night when she almost died. After all, he has a web of complicated lies from his own youth to protect.

Both are seeking salvation in the arms of others and ignoring the truth—that the only road to redemption lies in confronting your past.

When the past and present collide, is there any chance at redemption?

From the New York Times bestselling author of Jake Undone, comes a full-length standalone companion novel and sequel.
A different side to the story: Jake’s side.
“We’re getting a new roommate,” they said.
I thought nothing of it...until she walked in the door. Her hand trembled in mine as she looked at me with fearful eyes. My entire world spun on its axis.
Nina...
It was a mismatch made in heaven: innocent girl from the boonies moves in with tattooed, pierced, badboy engineer.
I came up with a bet, a plan to tutor her in math and coach her through her phobias. What I wasn’t betting on was becoming addicted to her.
But I was living a double life on weekends, and once she found out about it, she’d be gone.
I had to protect myself and that meant one thing: I couldn’t fall in love.
In Jake Understood, pivotal scenes from Jake Undone are retold from Jake’s point of view combined with all-new material from both the past and present time where Jake Undone left off. It can stand alone but if both books are read, should follow Jake Undone. Contains graphic sexual content and harsh language. It is only appropriate for adult readers age 18+.

Review: Shadowboxer (Tapped Out, #1) by Cari Quinn

Mia grew up with very little she's had it hard, a rough life to this point. Tray has had everything he could ever need but walked away from it to be happy.. Or what he thought would make him happy. Both are underground fighters. Mia is trying to make a name for herself, she wants to be the best and to do that she has to beat the best. There's one problem ... Tray doesn't fight women! ...
I really enjoyed this book, an angsty, broken character with a dark past is always good in my opinion. The dialogue was a little repetitive in places but overall didn't ruin the tone of the book. Tray though as much as I loved him I hated his attitude towards his upbringing and well to do family. Where Mia lost everything; he chose to leave everything behind. Their contrasting backgrounds make for an interesting read. Their blossoming relationship isn't portrayed as this beautiful epiphany like in most books, it's hard and gritty and in places hard to read. The first sex scene definitely wasn't pretty and I kind of liked that their story as a whole wasn't a pretty, light, airy read. This book pushes you past your comfort zone into a real emotional war zone. There were things about this story that drove me nuts but that just added to the enjoyment of the read for me. I really enjoyed getting to know these characters and I can't wait to read more from Cari Quinn.

He soon realizes he wants more from her than blows and blood, and he’s willing to hit below the belt to get it. He’ll fight her, but if he wins, she spends the night in his bed. All night long, his rules. No tapping out.

Mia agrees, certain that he’ll lose. What she doesn’t realize is that Tray loves to fight dirty…and that this match may end up being the most important one of their lives.

Warning: please be advised this book contains content some may find triggering (past sexual trauma) and also contains graphic sex and language.

Review: Loyalty and Lies (Chastity Falls, #1) by L.A. Cotton

*****5 Stars*****

Right from the very beginning we know that Savanah or Ana as she likes to be called, was running from her secrets. She had moved 3,000 miles to a small private college, Chastity Falls Academy, hoping to blend in and escape her pain.
Ana and Jackson had a few classes together, it wasn't long before Jackson asked Ana for coffee. As she was trying to move on from her past and try to heal, she reluctantly agreed. It wasn't long before she noticed that Jackson was hiding something himself, but he asked her not to ask him any questions.
Ana's roommate Elena was just lovely. She could see that Ana was struggling but instead of pushing her for answers, she was there to support her, and drag her off to parties of course.
What a brilliant start to a series, it was packed with mystery and I couldn't wait to find out what Ana was running from and what Jackson was hiding.
The book is very well written and I couldn't put it down, I read it in one day, which very rarely happens for me. It's written solely in Anna's POV.
I'm looking forward to the next book in the series because I NEED to know what happens next!!

Blurb:

Eighteen-year-old Savanah Parry just moved three thousand miles across state to escape. The memories…the whispers…the pain.

Review: Outlaw by Nicole James

****3.5 Stars****

Sometimes all it takes is one look to know that your life is about to change but will it be for the better?
This is what Cole felt when he met the terrified green eyes of Angel. He instantly knew two things...that he had to save her and that something was about to change.
Cole is a great character! A gruff, mean biker with a hidden soft centre but he gets more than he bargained for in Angel. She's not the timid handcuffed girl he was expecting but a ballsy woman who takes a shot or two at taking his life.
Angel doesn't know whether she can trust Cole, they're drawn to each other but sometimes those who haven't experienced this sort of connection do just about anything to come between them and push them apart.
There are plenty of twists to this tale and lots of surprises but when bad biker Cole doesn't think he's worthy of Angel's love, can there ever be a future for them.
The story is well written and it's only a little thing but irked me that the word "lie" was used in the past tense repeatedly throughout the book, when it should have been "lay".
The sub-characters are great, whether you love them or loath them and as this is the first book in the Outlaw series, I look forward to delving into their stories and maybe understanding why they are they way they are.

He believes he's doing the right thing until a secret she's hiding makes him question if saving her may be the biggest mistake of his life. The two strike a deal, a deal they may both come to regret. Can his soul be saved? Is there anything he won't do for her? Are there some things he just can't? And are there some things she can never forgive?

Review: Escaping Reality (The Secret Life Of Amy Bensen, #1) by Lisa Renee Jones

*****5 Stars*****

Well, this book certainly gets off to a very fast paced start and I was immediately drawn into the story.
"Amy" is running, absolutely terrified but also completely in the dark. Her mind seems to have shut down into self-protection mode with few memories surfacing and when that inclusive memory is called up by a word or situation, she finds herself once more in total darkness.
Forced to run yet again, Amy only has the pyramid sign to guide her. Her path crosses with the overwhelmingly, powerful and successful Liam but she knows that she just can't risk anyone else getting hurt. Besides which, she's gotten used to being alone.
Liam, however, is not easily deterred and sweeps in, offering Amy the opportunity to grasp on to what could be her own Prince Charming crossed with a super sexy dominant billionaire.
But of course things aren't always that simple. Can Amy trust anyone at all? Her new boss? Her new friend? Her neighbour? Or even the man who keeps her safe from Godzilla?
This book is well written and flows quickly.
As it is book #1 in the series, it has far more answers that questions but it works that way. It's setting you up for book #2 which I can't wait to get my hands on!

Blurb:

Infinite possibilities….
Infinite passion…..
Infinite danger….
His touch spirals through me, warm and sweet, wicked and hot. I shouldn’t trust him. I shouldn’t tell him my secrets. But how do I not when he is the reason I breathe? He is what I need.
At the young age of eighteen, tragedy and a dark secret force Lara to flee all she has known and loves to start a new life. Now years later, with a new identity as Amy, she’s finally dared to believe she is forgotten–even if she cannot forget. But just when she lets down her guard, the ghosts of her past are quick to punish her, forcing her back on the run.
On a plane, struggling to face the devastation of losing everything again and starting over, Amy meets Liam Stone, a darkly entrancing recluse billionaire, who is also a brilliant, and famous, prodigy architect. A man who knows what he wants and goes after it. And what he wants is Amy. Refusing to take “no” as an answer, he sweeps her into a passionate affair, pushing her to her erotic limits. He wants to possess her. He makes her want to be possessed. Liam demands everything from her, accepting nothing less. But what if she is too devastated by tragedy to know when he wants more than she should give? And what if there is more to Liam than meets the eyes?

Review: Teaching Aleck by Muriel Garcia

Teaching Aleck (The Last Hangman MC #2)

Aleck Sanford had everything growing up, absolutely everything, except for the one thing he and his sister desired the most: the love of their parents. After many years of emotional neglect, Aleck only understood the love between siblings, his parents certainly didn’t love them or even each other. How do you pick yourself up when everything around you falls apart? When the only person to love you has to leave?

Everything changed when he met Charline Dane. Still affected by his past, Aleck doesn’t understand or do relationships but he wants her. He just doesn’t know what to do about it. When Charline’s past catches up with her Aleck is forced to make a decision: fight or flight?

Will Aleck finally give into his feelings for Charline and save her before it’s too late or will their pasts get in the way? Will they both be able to overcome history and start anew?

Review:

4 Stars

I quite enjoyed this and can see an improvement in the authors writing from her debut book, I do believe that once she gets a few habits pressed out that Muriel has the makings of a promising author. I will say that you do really need to read book 1 in the series to be able to fully understand some of book 2, as events from book 1 are just referred to without any back cover which at times does interrupt the flow of the story as you have to stop and recall what is being referred to.

We briefly met Aleck and Charline in book 1 of the series where there was an obvious attraction between them and so in book 2 we get to look deeper into these characters and their relationship or non-relationship.

Aleck has a complicated background and he believes he is incapable of love as a result of bad parenting along with some unfortunate events in his past. As a college dropout he chooses to immerse himself deep in the M/C and club business in order to keep his mind occupied and often as way of keeping his distance from others, including Charline. As such we do get to experience a little more of the M/C lifestyle in this book.

Charline is a good girl from an ideal home with loving parents and after finishing college she returns to her home town to start her career as a teacher, you can almost see her halo shine. Trouble is this is exactly how Aleck sees her, he doesn’t think he and his lifestyle are right for Charline and so continually refuses her advances with his rejections. She is very much on the edge of the M/C as a friend to Ayden the M/C princess and after one too many rejections from Aleck she sets out to find a life away from him and the club. I have to say Charline has way more patience and perseverance than I do, I was urging her to shake Aleck on more than one occasion.

However, these two have secrets that make their paths inevitably cross as much as they try to stay away from each other and soon these secrets are revealed, some quite sweet and some with devastating consequences. As her past catches up with her Aleck is the person Charline reaches out to and every time he faces the inner battle of his feelings for her. But is Charline able to teach Aleck he is worthy of her love?

I have to admit I did find the beginning of this book a little slow and the characters were initially a little juvenile for me which I found hard to connect with but honestly once the twists started coming I was hooked in and enjoyed seeing the characters develop along with the story. Muriel plays the twist and turns in this story well and I really didn’t see them coming. I look forward to more from this series and Muriel and seeing her writing develop.

Review: Sharp Shootin' Cowboy (Hot Cowboy Nights #3) by Victoria Vane

****4 Stars****

Although this is the 3rd book in the Hot Cowboy Nights series, it can still be read as a stand alone.
The first two books overlapped slightly but they were also perfectly written to be read on their own.
Now we delve into Reid's story. He's a fiercely principled man who is about the leave on his next tour as a US marine. Dragged out to enjoy one of the few nights left before deployment, he encounters a woman who is so contradictory, it makes his head spin.
Haley is fiercely protective of her beliefs and prejudices. She knows what she wants from life and it doesn't include a hot, sexy marine wearing cowboy boots.
Reid and Haley's story spans quite a few years but is written so seamlessly, which is in total contradiction to their encounters with one another.
There are plenty of arguments, which is to be expected seeing as they barely agree on anything, never mind the fact that they appear to be polar opposites.
With Haley's reluctance to put her trust in anyone but herself and Reid's family business raising her heckles, someone is bound to throw in the towel.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Reid is a great character, who has all the qualities we love in a book-boyfriend. Despite finding Haley rather infuriating at times, I couldn't help admiring her tenacity and dedication.
Its a sweet story that takes you on a journey where the two characters discover each other, themselves and the meaning of compromise. Although not as "hot" as the first two books, Reid is still certain to get your pulse racing.

Review: The Unleashing by Shelly Laurenston

*****5 Stars*****

Hot Vikings and hardcore female assassins: does it get any better than that?! I think not! Seriously, Shelly Laurenston is your go to author is you want a female lead who is a bad ass mofo. This book is the first book in Laurenston’s new “Call of the Crows” series. In a new twist this series follows the exploits of several clans that are sponsored by Norse gods. Think Dark Hunters but with Norse Gods. Most of the clans are descended from ancient Scandinavians except for the Crows. The Crows have one thing in common, they’ve all died horribly and in their last dying moments they were filled with rage and the need for strength. So the goddess Skuld gives them a second at life with new powers. The Crows come from all walks of life and ethnicities, which kind of annoys the other clans, which I find amusing. Kera is retired Marine who has seen a lot of action and is now trying to adjust to regular life when it’s disrupted by an act of horrible violence. Her journey as a Crow is really interesting because she has a really strong moral compass and sense of organization which her fellow Crows do not have. I love that Kera doesn’t spend a second whining or complaining. She sucks it up and does her job. Also she has a HUGE heart, she’s so caring and generous but that doesn’t mean that she’s a push over. This girl can kick some serious butt. 100% warrior woman. I love the dynamic between all the Crows, no one writes strong unapologetically fierce heroines like Shelly Laurenston. They can be rude and crude (hilariously so) but they fight hard like the boys and they play hard like them too. Speaking of boys, Vig Rundstrom…..holy Viking hotness! Poor Vig, he has a demeanor that tends to scare away the other members of his clan, the Ravens. But beneath that slightly intimidating yet totally sexy exterior lurks a big marshmallow, especially where Kera is concerned. He’s a lethal fighter and yet also a loving brother and loyal friend. I’ve seen a lot of stories where the hero and heroine are a study in opposites but Kera and Vig seem to be cut of the same cloth, a symphony in similarity. Which absolutely works for them, you can feel the chemistry from these two right from the start. The plot is very fast paced and there are constant action scenes and plot developments. You will love ALL the secondary characters (both Crows and Ravens) and their hilarious antics. Another sensational read from Shelly Laurenston!

Kera Watson never expected to face death behind a Los Angeles coffee shop. Not after surviving two tours lugging an M16 around the Middle East. If it wasn’t for her hot Viking customer showing up too late to help, nobody would even see her die.
In uncountable years of service to the Allfather Odin, Ludvig “Vig” Rundstrom has never seen anyone kick ass with quite as much style as Kera. He knows one way to save her life—but she might not like it. Signing up with the Crows will get Kera a new set of battle buddies: cackling, gossiping, squabbling, party-hearty women. With wings. So not the Marines.
But Vig can’t give up on someone as special as Kera. With a storm of oh-crap magic speeding straight for L.A., survival will depend on combining their strengths: Kera’s discipline, Vig’s loyalty… and the Crows’ sheer love of battle. Boy, are they in trouble.
