Review: Craving (Steel Brothers Saga #1) by Helen Hardt

****3.5 Stars****

This is my first book by the author and I was under the impression that it was a standalone and that each book in the series would be about a different brother but nope, this book leaves us on a cliffhanger. Craving is book 1 and the next two books are about the same couple, Jade and Talon.
This was a quick simple suspenseful read. After being left at the altar, Jade uses her best friend's ranch as the perfect getaway. The last thing she expects is to be attracted to her best friend's mysterious broken older brother, Talon. Talon is a very broken man. He went through a horrific childhood trauma that is only eluded to in the book. He takes from woman, never giving anything in return, until Jade. He has a craving for her that he fears he may never been able to fully satisfy. But his long buried secrets of his childhood trauma still haunt him heavily and threaten to tear them apart forever.
I didn't much care for Jade in this book. For most of the book, one of the biggest questions bouncing around was, did Jade pass the bar? This was a big part of most of the book. Also she knew Talon was broken from the beginning yet she kept on crying over his hot and cold act with her. I don't think they spent any time together where they weren't in bed so I didn't really any connection between the two except for their chemistry and sexual attraction in bed. And the part at the end was inconsistent with the whole book. The whole book explains how Jade's mother isn't a part of her life and how she never sees or talks to her yet her mother calls and she comes running and they act like best friends. This was just a little unbelievable to me. Also I don't know if it was just a weird copy I got but the formatting was all wrong and it was sometimes hard to tell who was talking and saying what line at times.
Other than that, I quite enjoyed this book and it had a lot of potential in my eyes plus with that cliffhanger ending I will definitely be picking up the next book. If you like a quick, simple, suspenseful read than I highly recommending one-clicking.
