I’m torn with this book, maybe even series, I love Chantal’s writing and you can really see it improving and growing as this series progresses so that isn’t my issue. I’m just always left wanting more from these stories and that is more from the M/C side of the story which I don’t think we get enough of. I’d have loved for this novella to have been a full novel with a dual POV, I really do think it would be on a whole new level.
We meet Valentina initially living in a horrid situation with an abusive husband and it was brilliantly and sympathetically written without glorifying domestic abuse. Valentina encounters Irish as she tries to build a new life for herself after escaping her abusive husband with one eye always looking over her shoulder. Initially she tries to keep her distance from Irish but he is a determined man and it seems he is already looking out for her. I liked Valentina and her strength of character given her past.
I enjoyed getting to know Irish a little better after we have seen him grow through the other books, just wish we got into his head more, and it is lovely to see him develop into a strong, committed passionate man and biker. He knew what he wanted and he wasn’t taking no for an answer and was willing to do the ultimate to protect Valentina from her past, no matter what.
This was an enjoyable read, even though it was short it was well paced with a great twist that I didn’t see coming and I loved the ending. I look forward to more in this series.
