Review: Bound in Darkness (Immortal Brothers #4) by Jacquelyn Frank ~ New Release

****4 Stars****

The greatest thing the Jacqueline Franks brings to this series is the every book is so completely different from the previous ones. Each book has different cultures and different countries which makes every book extremely entertaining and not your standard romance. This book is different from its predecessors because it shares more similarities to an epic fantasy novel. For all the characters there’s a lot of journeying and working towards completing a quest. During this journey there’s a major amount of character development which I find is a trademark of Frank but she takes it to the next level in this book. You also have a more diverse cast of secondary characters which makes this work very well rounded. As with all Jacqueline Frank books you can feel the smoldering sexiness from page one. Maxum and Airianne both manage to burn up the pages! Even though they wait longer to get their groove on than the couples in the previous books and there are parts where the build-up practically sets your panties on fire but let me tell you it’s worth the wait. Maxum is a strange hero, because he carries a tremendous amount of darkness within him but also exudes a carefree and humorous attitude that makes him instantly likeable. He’s alpha enough to send a shiver down your back but not so crazy alpha that you want to put cyanide in his toothpaste. Airianne is so frickin’ cute! She’s quirky and at the same time so self sufficient that she pulls Maxum’s ass out of the fryer more than a couple of times. She’s the embodiment of girl power. The plot is fast paced and written with Frank’s usual gusto and panache. This book is an infinitely enjoyable conclusion to a stellar series.

After drinking from the fountain of immortality along with his brothers, Maxum is condemned by the gods to be entombed in the earth. Even though he has now been granted a reprieve by day, each night he is buried anew, his rock-hard body immobilized, his bones crushed by the pressure. When he emerges, his body heals, but his spirit remains scarred. There is only one way for Maxum to be completely free: He must kill the god who cursed him.

The task will require tremendous power, so Maxum embarks on a quest to gather talismans to equip him for the battle. Then an earthy wench seduces him and steals one of his magical amulets, but he catches her. Finding herself between a rock and a hard place, she strikes a bargain. The beautiful and alluring Airianne is a skilled thief—and she can help him in his acquisition of the talismans. Will this stealthy seductress also try to steal his heart—or will their boldness end up getting them both buried?
