Review: The One That Got Away (Kingston Ale House #1) by A.J. Pine

*****5 Stars*****

This is the first book by the author that I have read and I was completely captivated till the very end. I love a good best friends to lovers book just like anyone else but this one felt different for me. There was so much angst and heartbreak in this book that you couldn't help but to fall for both the hero and heroine and root for them to get the happily ever after they deserve.
I felt like the title was very aptly and appropriately chosen for the plot of this book. Jamie and Brynn have been best friends since middle school and only once have they ever crossed that thin boundary between friends and something more. Fear causes them to have an unspoken agreement that that line will never be crossed or spoken of again. But Jamie has been in love with Brynn since they day he first met her and when he finally gets up the courage to overcome his fear and finally tell her his feelings, she has her sights on someone else. Knowing that this might be the very last chance to end up with the love of his life, he asks Brynn to go on a road trip with him in hopes that she will finally open her eyes and see what has always been in front of her. Will she realize that she is meant to be with Jamie or will she always be the one who got away?
I absolutely loved Brynn and Jamie and their close friendship that they have with one another! The One That Got Away is filled with angst, heartbreak, and secrets that could make or break their friendship. Now that I've read this book, I can't wait to read more from this author.

How far will one man go for the woman he's loved since high school?

Jamie Kingston has been Brynn Chandler's best friend since middle school. Only once was their friendship tested—when Brynn gave Jamie a single kiss. Since then, they've had an unspoken agreement never to cross that line again, and she’s ready to let go of the past and move on.

But Jamie has loved Brynn for as long as he can remember, and now that he's ready to tell her, she has her sights set on someone else. Knowing this is his last chance, he asks Brynn to go on a two-week road trip. But their time alone brings old hurts to the surface, and Brynn has to decide if the one that got away lies at the end of the journey or if he's been by her side all along.
