Review: The Way We Fall (The Story of Us #1) by Cassia Leo

****3.5 Stars****

The way we fall is a story of love, lies, betrayal and hurt.
Rory and Houston grew up together due to Rory being best friends with Houston's sister Hallie. Rory has loved Houston since she was 11 years old and even though Houston deep down mirrored those feelings he kept himself at bay. Just after Rory turned 18 and after a horrific tragic event that affected both Rory and Houston, they finally got together. However Houston held one big secret in the form of a letter which held information that would destroy Rory and what they had together so he walked away. Fast forward 5 years and their jobs bring them back together. However Houston has one big issue to get out of and a secret letter that's been burning a hole in his pocket for 5 years. Will they survive the truth?
Okay admittedly I struggled with the first 55% of the book. I found it slow and confusing in some parts due to all the switching from past to present. There was a couple of minor things I didn't find realistic but that may just be me, eg Rory didn't move on in the whole 5 years apart but then suddenly when Houston came back into her life she went on a date to try move on? The story in itself flowed well and took off between the middle and end and I enjoyed it more from then on in. I think what ultimately sold and redeemed it for me in the end was that I never in a million years saw the twist coming and I love a book with hidden agenda. I applaud the author as it's not often my mind is changed by the end.

Synopsis

Maybe we shouldn’t have fallen so fast and so willingly.

Maybe we shouldn’t have moved in together before we went on our first date.

Maybe we should have given our wounds time to heal before we tore each other to shreds.

Maybe we should have never been together.

Houston has kept a devastating secret from Rory since the day he took her into his home. But the tragic circumstances that brought them together left wounds too deep to heal.

Five years after the breakup, Houston and Rory are thrust together by forces beyond their control. And all the resentments and passion return with more intensity than ever.

Once again, Houston is left with a choice between the truth and the only girl he’s ever loved.
