Review: Sweet Ache (Driven #6) by K. Bromberg

****4 Stars****

Now whilst this is technically still part of the Driven series and besides Quinlan, it does feature some characters we are already familiar with, there is a definite feeling this is more a spin off, with the introduction of lots of new characters, particularly the members of the rock group, Bent.
Quinlan is studying at college and its there she meets bad boy rocker Hawkin Play. Despite the physical attraction, Quinlan is on her guard as far as Hawkin is concerned due to being hurt in the past. I loved the fact that she was not fazed by Hawkes fame in any way.
One thing is clear from having read the previous books in this series, Ms Bromberg is a huge fan of metaphors and innuendos relating to the subject matter. For instance with Colton and Rylees books there was a lot of racing innuendos, so it was no surprise that this book featured a lot of music references and what surprised me most is that it continues to work.
I loved Quinlan and Hawkes chemistry, both sexual and emotional. Quinlan was a mixture of Rylees level headedness with a bit of Haddies lack of inhibition when it comes to sex. Hawkin was every bit the bad boy rocker. Sexiness oozed from every pore, but he also had a hint of vulnerability which can only come from a traumatic event in his life.
Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed this book, but it just didn't make me feel that heart wrenching empathy like I had with Rylee and Coltons book and in a way Becks and Haddie's and I think that maybe down to personal preference which is often the case when reading a series involving books dedicated to different characters.
The sex scenes were hot and without giving anything away, I can tell you the guitar just became my favourite instrument.
There's quite a lot happening in this book and not enough, at the same time. There are lots of surprises and some things that you anticipate, but overall I still find this series highly addictive and really hope we get to read more about those sexy rockers in the future.

The New York Times bestselling author of Slow Burn turns up the heat when a sexy bet turns into so much more…

Hawkin Play, the bad boy rock star with a good guy heart, has lived a lifetime of cleaning up after his twin brother’s mistakes. Hunter’s most recent screw-up could land Hawke in jail and risk the band’s future. Hawke agrees to guest lecture at a local college to stay in the judge’s good graces—and a bet with his bandmate to seduce his sexy teaching assistant is icing on the cake.

Quinlan Westin is harder to bed than Hawke imagined. She knows his type and is determined to avoid the rocker at all costs—even if their attraction runs deeper than simple lust.

Just as Hawke might finally be winning over the girl, his brother has other plans. When Hunter realizes his twin finally has a weakness, he’ll stop at nothing to take advantage.
