Review: The First Taste (Slip of the Tongue #2) by Jessica Hawkins

*****5 Stars*****

When you get the story of two people whom have both had past bad relationships and think they are incapable of loving again, where does it leave them in life? Andrew is an amazing single father to Bell, she is his life and she definitely has him wrapped around her little finger. Andrew loves Bell with all his heart and not only is he trying to protect his own heart but Bell has to be the number one priority in his life. When Amelia comes along the attraction between them is there but both agree that no strings sex would be the only thing that benefits them both. Amelia has just came out of a relationship with her cheating husband and doesn't believe she is strong enough to ever give her heart away again especially not to Andrew. I mean she's never been interested in children and has always put her career before everything. They spend one evening together with off the charts hot sex but could it ever be anything more?
Jessica Hawkins has done it again. When I read book 1 Slip Of The Tongue it gave me all the feels I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting it was so good. Well it's happened again! Jessica Hawkins seems to have the knack of writing down to a tee. The story itself just pulls you in and makes you feel like you personally know these characters like your best friends. Sometimes when we read fiction storylines can become slightly out of the realms of normality or so far fetched that it leaves you wondering what poor sod ever went through it in real life but then it is why it's called fiction! However this plot feels as though it's not fiction and is as close to real life circumstances as you could get. You will live it, feel it and become immersed in it and you will never ever want the story to end. I applaud the author for another book extremely well done and I can't wait to see what comes next as there is plenty of side characters between the first book and this book who may have a story yet to tell.

Andrew Beckwith has already devoted his life to one girl—and as far as he’s concerned, she’s all he needs. The rough-around-the-edges bad boy left his reckless ways behind six years ago when his daughter Bell was born. To the female population’s dismay, he’s unapologetically single. When Bell’s mother walked out on them years ago, he vowed never to let another woman close enough to hurt them again.

Amelia Van Ecken isn’t just another woman. She’s an independent, smart, and savvy businesswoman who doesn’t have time for sex, much less love. In the midst of a drawn-out, bitter divorce, all she wants is to bury herself in work. But when sharp-tongued Amelia and stubborn Andrew cross paths, sparks fly—and burn. Two things are obvious in an instant: they want each other, and they’re from different worlds. It’s the perfect formula for an off-the-charts one-night stand. After all, it’s not as if opposites ever attract.
The First Taste, a standalone spin-off of the Slip of the Tongue.
