Review: Days Like This by Danielle Ellison

****4 Stars****

Cassie leaves her mother, brokenhearted boyfriend and home behind cutting contact was the only way she could go on.
This was until she received a phone call from her ex boyfriend Graham with the unexpected news that her mother that also suffers from bi - polar disorder has burned her house down, Cassie must now return home to confront her past.
Cassie has always felt like the adult in her relationship with her mother for so long, she loves her mother unconditionally but I thought that Cassie had forgotten to love life and enjoy it, she felt like she was dragging her boyfriend down with her so decides to leave without word.
Graham really is a sweet character but also has a few faults of his own but even after Cassie leaves he continues to look after Cassie's mother helping her with odd jobs and drinking coffee with her even though he doesn't life coffee even though the memories of Cassie still obviously cause him pain.
We have a few secondary characters that really stand out in the book and I would love to see their story, with this book I had to keep on reading as I wanted to know if Cassie would be forgiven, they would rekindle their friendship and their relationship as you can see they are Meant to be together.
This book is beautifully heartbreaking but also warm and fuzzy and a nice short read, can't wait to read more from this author.

Sometimes the only thing standing between fear and hope is you.

Almost a year ago, nineteen-year-old Cassie Harlen had a lot to deal with. A stack of college acceptance letters waiting for answers, a proposal from the boy next door, and a mother whose most recent bipolar episode left Cassie hurt and confused. Tired of cleaning up the messes caused by her mother's disorder, of resenting her mother for not being there, and scared of being trapped by an inevitable future—which included marrying Graham Tucker—Cassie did the only thing she could think of to keep from ending up like her mother: she left.

Graham never knew why Cassie walked away. He woke up one morning and she was gone—along with the life that he’d created around her. After eleven months, Graham has a new plan for his future. One that doesn't involve Cassie Harlen.

When Cassie's mom nearly burns down her house, Cassie’s forced to return home. Back to a mother she’s tried to ignore and the guy she’s been unable to forget. Graham doesn't know how he's going to spend the whole summer living next door to the person who broke his heart without letting those old feelings push through to the surface.

Neither does Cassie.
