Review: Blood Script by Airicka Pheonix

*****4.5 Stars*****

When a books blurb asks the question 'Have you ever @&$#£€ a pirate?' then I'm instantly drawn to that book.

This is most definitely not about your swashbuckling, wooden legged, parrot on the shoulder type of pirates, this is a tale of the modern day variety and pretty damn hot ones at that. Especially Captain James Crow and his second in command, Nicholas.

This author is also one I have not had the fortune of coming across before.

Unfortunately it took me a little longer than I would have liked to get into the story and if I'm honest, I felt it didn't hold my attention for very long for the first few chapters. Maybe that was initially down to what I felt was an overuse of metaphors and the very long chapters, which at one point felt too much like an uphill struggle.

What was clear from the beginning though, was the intense passion and chemistry between James and Cora.

However somewhere along the way, I'm not exactly sure when, I started to get used to the authors style of writing. The characters gave me more of their personality and the sex scenes were pretty damn hot, let me tell you. In fact the book took on a completely different feel.

Captain James Crow was the absolute perfect leading man and he certainly met his match with Cora. That girl was seriously feisty and definitely one to keep her man on his toes. I simply love a strong leading lady and for me Cora ticked all the boxes.

I cannot write this review though, without mentioning Nicholas. Because I really would love it if he was to have his own book in the future. Not a great deal was revealed about him but there's definitely more to this guy that I would love to find out about.

Initially I really didn't think I was going to be rating this book as highly as I have, but by the end this story had my complete and undivided attention and this will by no means be the last book I read by Airicka Phoenix. Another great new author I can now add to my TBR list.

“Ever f*cked a pirate?”

He was insufferable, deeply scarred, and frustratingly gorgeous, and he was the man who was blackmailing her into tying the knot.

Cora Harris has never had luck with men. Being the daughter of a ruthless crime boss tended to put a dent in any relationship, but she never imagined she’d get kidnapped in the dead of night by pirates. She sure as hell never imagined the asshole with the smoldering gaze would threaten everyone she loved if she didn’t become his wife.

Only Captain James Crow wants more than just her hand in holy matrimony. He wants her absolute submission. He wants her pain. He wants the one thing she’s never given anyone — her heart. But is he willing to give the daughter of his sworn enemy his in return?

“How easily his eyes could make her forget that he was her captor. Not her savior.”

But when the truth is revealed, can James keep Cora from the true evil in their midst? Can he win before his revenge cost him more than just his life? And how far will Cora go to free herself of the man who enchanted her, seduced her, and when she submitted, imprisoned her?

Vengeance and betrayal will either bring two warring families together or obliterate them all.
