Review: Sweet Cheeks by K. Bromberg

I have to say this book exceeded my expectations for many reasons, however the two that stand out the most for me are the fact that I did initially worry this book would be a little cheesy and I say that purely because of the title and my assumptions prior to reading a single word. My expectation was that somewhere down the line, the hero was going to refer to the heroine as Sweet Cheeks or for the phrase to be constantly mentioned throughout and to me that just seems too much and too cheesy for my taste, but let me tell you that that wasn't the case whatsoever. From the moment I began to read this book it was clear there was not going to be any naming of anyone, Sweet Cheeks and it was definitely not cheesy in any way, shape, or form.

Secondly, I wasn't sure that K Bromberg could firstly match the success of the first 3 books in the Driven series and also that I was forever going to compare every future book she writes and every character to Colton and Rylee (I was starting to bore myself with the comparisons), however I can say with my hand on heart that this book, by being a stand alone, was so refreshing that it didn't even enter my head to compare it to anything. So much so I'm not even going to mention that other series or characters again for the rest of my review.

I loved that this book was a second chance love story. The chemistry between the couple was instantaneous, as the history was already there. It was just simply a really good story with great characters, one being Super Sexy Movie Star, Hayes Whitley. Throw in a couple of hot sex scenes, a barrage of chemistry and a dash of angst and voilà, a fantastic book in my eyes.

I am glad Kristy has decided to branch out from that other series (winks), because what she has proven to me with this book, is that she is most definitely NOT a one trick pony, but instead a talented romance author with a mind for a great love story.

Review: Make Me (Kiss of Death 0.5) by L.P. Lovell

It's very hard to write this review without giving anything away, so it going to be short and sweet. Although sweet is the last word I'd use to describe this book.

If you're familiar with LP Lovell's work, then no doubt you've read (or at least heard about) book #1, Kill Me, in this new series, Kiss of Death. Its a great read which I thoroughly enjoyed.

This is book #0.5 and as the prequel it answers some of the questions that abound in book #1. Make Me is the story of Una's beginning. The story of just how she came to be the woman she is, the woman we meet in Kill Me.

Although not overly graphic, this book is dark, gritty and beautifully written. For me, it was more of a psychological journey, seeing Una stripped down and rebuilt to suit the needs of others.

Having already read Kill Me first, it all slots into place quite seamlessly. If you haven't read either book, do so, you'll love them. Then you can hanker for book #2, just as I am.

Review: Managed (VIP #2) by Kristen Callihan

If you haven't read Idol book 1 then please don't read this review or any other for Managed!

Gabriel Scott - AKA Scottie seems to be quite the little hottie <<< pun poem intended! I just couldn't get enough of this book. When Gabriel Scott discovers he has a 1st class flight partner on his way to London for a European tour with Kill John so he is angry and isn't afraid to voice it. He hates flying with a vengeance and so always books 2 seats together in 1st class so there is no witness to his weakness. However Sophie Darling is a character and a half, she is witty, chatty and could calm an angry bull just with her words and calm him she does, leaving Gabriel mesmerised by this woman and wondering who she is. It isn't to long though as he finds out she is on her way to an interview with Brian which is actually an alias name for his partner in business Brenna. Sophie has no idea though who she is going to actually be working with so it's a surprise when she walks into the room in her hotel next day to come face to face with Kill John, the worlds biggest rockband! Gabriel and Sophie have a mutual attraction to each other and she is the only one he will let call him Gabriel rather than Scottie, however he has walls around him and won't give in to the attraction but can she break those walls down bit by bit?

As we all know from book 1, Gabriel (I will call him that instead of his nickname Scottie as it's what Sophie calls him) is a closed of person who likes to be all business and sophisticated at all times, leaving people thinking he is just dour faced and broody. Letting people in is not what he does for reasons that will be revealed during the course of the book. Sophie is a delightful dream and is a person I would love to be in real life, she is witty, charming and kept the whole book on it's toes with her way with words and it doesn't fly under the radar with the other characters either. This book was a total hit for me, it's slow building for the first 50% of the book but the wittiness keeps you from complaining and just when I thought it couldn't get any better after Idol it proved me wrong and left me with a satisfied smile on my face. Kristen Callihan can write and let me tell you she does it extremely well. I can't wait to see whats next in this series but I am secretly hoping for Jax's story.
