Review: Amber Fire by Lisa Renee Jones

****4 Stars****

This a short shifter tale, it would have been better had it been longer but for a short story it was very good. It was well written and engaging and I only say it could have been longer because the story had enough substance to it that it could make a full length book and still be a fab and engaging read.
Amber is in Nevada determined to continue her father's work of discovering the Yaguara, a race of Jaguar shifters. There she meets Jareth, a reclusive writer who she has an insane, intense connection with. Jareth is a sexy, over-protective and intense shifter, he's an easy character to fall for. Amber isn't particularly ballsy but she's no shrinking violet either, she doesn't like being told what to do and can be very stubborn, much to Jareth's dismay.
If you like a sexy shifter tale then pick up this short, easy but entertaining read.

If your a fan of rock band books then this is definitely a story for you. Killian James is guitarist and lead singer for Kill John one of the biggest rock bands in the world. Whilst taking a break in a far off little town in the middle of nowhere Killian ends up drunk and crashes his bike in to Liberty Bells front yard. Vomiting and comatose, Liberty takes matters into her own hands and decides to hose the culprit down like literally. Killian is quite surprised that she doesn't recognise who he is until he finally has to tell her under pressure when he is recognised whilst on a visit into town a few days later. Killian ends up acquainting himself with Liberty as friends initially since they are neighbours but when he hears her sing it changes everything. Liberty is quite shy and reserved and believed her parents when they said music is a hard act to follow and that she shouldn't go there. So when Liberty is persuaded to sing with Kill John can the limelight be to much and can a relationship with Killian persuade the fans that he isn't theirs to keep?
This is my first book by this author and it certainly didn't disappoint. It's fast paced with enough angst in all the right places. I'm generally not a huge fan of rock star romance but this is so well written it had me drawn in hook, line and sinker. The side characters from the rest of the band to their manager and publicist played a good enough part to get to know them and to where they fit in the story. I can't wait to read Scottie the band managers story as for me he was a character who was a bit closed off and it got me intrigued as to what his back story was to make him into the man he seems to think he needs to be.

Libby

I found Killian drunk and sprawled out on my lawn like some lost prince. With the face of a god and the arrogance to match, the pest won’t leave. Sexy, charming, and just a little bit dirty, he’s slowly wearing me down, making me crave more.

He could be mine if I dare to claim him. Problem is, the world thinks he’s theirs. How do you keep an idol when everyone is intent on taking him away?
Killian

As lead singer for the biggest rock band in the world, I lived a life of dreams. It all fell apart with one fateful decision. Now everything is in shambles.

Until Liberty. She’s grouchy, a recluse—and kind of cute. Scratch that. When I get my hands on her, she is scorching hot and more addictive than all the fans who’ve screamed my name.

The world is clamoring for me to get back on stage, but I’m not willing to leave her. I’ve got to find away to coax the hermit from her shell and keep her with me. Because, with Libby, everything has changed.
Everything.

Review: Ransom (Dead Man's Ink #3) by Callie Hart

*****5 Stars*****

Callie! Callie! Callie! What are you doing to me?
This series just keeps me guessing over and over again. Just when I think I know what's going to happen, Ms Hart throws another spanner in the works.
Rebel/Jamie is still sexy AF, in fact I can confidently say he's even more so as his relationship with Sophia progresses. I'm having a serious fictional crush on him.
Sophia on the other hand is a little harder to love, but love her I do. Yes she's as stubborn as they get and just won't do as she's told half the time which often gets her into a world of trouble, but I do believe she is slowly learning that Rebel is right most of the time.
The story itself is just as gripping and some of the scenes made me wince a little but that's hardly surprising when we're dealing with the Widow Makers MC and the Mexican Cartels.
I cannot praise this book and series highly enough and if I had one criticism it would be that I think I would have loved it even more if the books were read back to back, but quite honestly im just honoured to once again be given the opportunity to read Callie's book.
I'm going to end my review by saying that I'm almost certain there's more to come from this series, whether that be another book featuring Rebel and Sophia or perhaps one of the other characters, but either way it is clear there is much more to come.

SOPHIA

6 Months

A lot can happen in six months. A heart can break and heal countless times. A life can change so dramatically that it’s unrecognizable anymore.

Sophia was a ghost, a made up pseudonym on a fake ID that helped Alexis buy beer. She was never meant to become a real person. She was never meant to live. Breathe. Hurt. Love. It’s funny how one moment can alter the course of a lifetime. Now Alexis is a ghost, and Sophia is all that remains.

But what happens when the threats you’re terrified to acknowledge come true? What happens when your loved ones are in danger, and facing the past is the only way to save them?

The newest prospect of the Widow Makers Motorcycle club is about to find out.

REBEL

Louis James Aubertin III has always been single minded in his goal: bring down the Los Oscuros cartel, and kill Hector Ramirez for ordering the death of his uncle. Over the course of the last 6 months, things don’t seem that cut and dried anymore, though. If chasing down Hector means endangering the woman he loves, is it really worth the risk? If sending his club to war against one of the most dangerous cartels in the world means ruining the one good thing in his life, is the price worth paying?

Jamie will do anything to protect Sophia, but with Hector kidnapping her family members and demanding the greatest of ransoms, keeping her safe is beginning to seem like an impossible task.

Review: Everywhere and Every Way (Billionaire Builders #1) by Jennifer Probst

*****4.5 Stars*****

What a good way to kick start a new series off!!
Caleb (Cal) Pierce has always worked for his father's construction business with the hope that one day he'll be the boss, but one day his high hopes are shattered as when his father dies Caleb has to run the business with his two younger brothers, the problem there is that he hasn't spoken to them in years.
Enter Morgan, Morgan is a high end interior designer, she hires Caleb to build her a perfect designed house nothing short of being perfect will do, if he doesn't agree then Morgan will use many of her connection's to destroy the company, so will Caleb give in to her demands?
I enjoyed reading Everywhere and Every Way, Morgan was hard to connect and like for a big percentage of the book as she came across icy and manipulative but under that she was funny, independent and very strong headed. Caleb was a hard working, sweet alpha male who I adored and couldn't help swooning over.
All in all Everywhere and Every Way was a great start to a new series, written extremely well with good character development and I cant wait to read more.

Review: Don't You Cry by Mary Kubica

****4 Stars****

I have come to associate Mary Kubica with really well done and tautly written psychological thrillers and her newest book, Don't You Cry, continues that tradition. It is told alternately through the eyes of Alex and Quinn. Alex is an 18 year old who was abandoned by his mother and is left with an alcoholic father. He works at a dinner as a dishwasher. He has no friends and only really associates with Ingrid, an older agoraphobic woman he does errands for who is almost like a mother to him. One day he notices a beautiful stranger in his dinner. She just stares out the window for hours. He soon becomes fixated on her and that fixation becomes obsession as he starts to follow her around and even gives her a made up name in his head.
Quinn is a loner. She has trouble making friends. She becomes roommates with Esther and finally feels like she has a real friend. Esther seems perfect to her and she starts to look up to and idolize her. One day she comes home and finds Esther missing. She is devastated and tries to solve the mystery of her disappearance. When she finds a strange letter she begins to wonder if the Saintly Esther was not as perfect as she appeared.
Don't You Cry has a slow build up, but you will be quickly invested in the story and mystery playing out. You will also be trying to figure out the connection between the two seemingly unconnected stories. I found the book hard to put down and the fact that Quinn and Alex were seemingly ordinary characters made them very relatable. I needed to know what would happen and the twists and turns ratcheted that need up. I was quite surprised by the way things ended up playing out (it is always fun when an author can keep you guessing up until the very end!).

Review: Chasing Butterflies by Terri E. Laine

*****5 Stars*****

I loved this author's collaborations with another favorite author of mine, so when I saw she was coming out with a new solo book I jumped at the opportunity to read it! This author has a way of taking you on one heck of an emotional rollercoaster that you never want to end.
I loved Kelley from the beginning and I hated how tragic his home life was. He is the ultimate player on and off the football field until he sets his sights on one Lenora Wells. Him and Lenora have instant chemistry although they start off on the wrong foot with one another. Lenora will do anything to make sure that she gets far away from her town, even if it means dating the wrong boy for her, the one her parents want her to date. Although she is taken, she can't keep her eyes off the gorgeous, complicated guy who is the only one to ever give her butterflies. He makes her question all the decisions that she has been forced to make. When their lives finally collide, things happen that tear them apart and forever change their lives.
Four years later, their lives collide once more and college becomes a place of second chances. She is not the same girl he left behind and he will always be the one boy who is always on her mind. She still has him chasing butterflies, but can their love withstand everything that has happened over those four years they were apart?
This book is filled with passion, angst, tragedy, and secrets. I could not put this book down and I cannot wait for the next book to be released by this author!

London’s square mile is witness to a revolution, a new breed of business woman. They call us tiger sharks.  We out-earn, out-work and out-play our male counterparts. We work the system, play the game and most importantly, we win. In a city full of sharks only the most ruthless make it to the top of the pool.
The number one rule: never sleep with the boss. Ever. I had no intention of breaking it until I met my new boss. No matter how strong my resolve, Landon Banks can smell weakness like a shark smells blood in the water, and I’m bleeding.
The hunter becomes the hunted, lines start to blur, and I have a choice to make. Screw or be screwed. Of course, I never was much good at taking it like a bitch. Landon Banks will be learning to grab his ankles if I have anything to do with it.
Things are about to get interesting in the game of predator versus predator. Who will come out on top?
