Sawyer Bennett is one of my favorite authors and I jumped at the chance to read this book after seeing that gorgeous cover for the first time, even before reading the blurb. This book is very different than the author's others books that I've read, in my opinion, and it didn't quite keep my attention. It is lighthearted and humorous yet predictable and cheesy at times.
I could not stand Valentine for most of the book and therefore couldn't connect with her but I loved Logan! Her complete lack of empathy and awareness for the feelings of the people around her was absolutely mind boggling. Valentine is a dating columnist, which is a fancy way to say that she goes on dates and then crassly blogs about them afterward, who needs a break from the 'metrosexual' men of NYC so she packs her bags and jets off to Alaska where the women to men ratio is better in her favor and where she proceeds to judge the people around her and then blog openly about the flaws of the men who take her on dates. She never factored in the fact that she might just meet Mr. Right.
I loved the small town vibe of this book and how everyone knew each other and was in every one's business. The town definitely had charm all on it's own and makes me want to visit Alaska someday. Logan was an absolute sweetheart and definitely knows what he wants and doesn't have a problem going after what he wants. He is definitely a man's man as well. Valentine, on the other hand, was a very hard character to connect with for me. I found her to be spoiled and shallow and although I liked her fine by the end, she got on my nerves for pretty much the entirety of the book. The chemistry between Logan and Valentine was off the charts hot but they were complete opposites in every way.
While I enjoyed this book, it wasn't my favorite by the author. It was still an easy, lighthearted, funny read. I can't wait to see what the author has in store for us next.
