Review: Blaze (Dark in You #2) by Suzanne Wright

*****5 Stars*****

This is book two in the Dark in You series and has the same main characters from book one, Harper and Knox. It picks up right where book one left off with Harper and Knox planning an event to announce their mating.
Harper is still the sassy and stubborn heroine we got to know in book one, she drives Knox and his overprotective demon nuts with her determination to be independent and deal with things on her own. Knox is still the drop dead sexy alpha male we fell in love with in the previous book. I love these two as a couple, they compliment each other so well and the chemistry between them is sizzling.
There's also a lot of humour to be found in this book, as we've come to expect from Suzanne Wright, the witty banter between characters balances out the tense drama that unfolds in the story.
I was surprised to find that book two in this series would focus on the same main characters from book one, not that I am complaining, at all! I just thought the series would be made up of books about different couples, I can see chemistry building between some of the side characters and would love them to get their own books, I hope that's in the pipeline. There's a certain hellhound and hellcat who's story I definitely want to develop, the banter between those two is just brilliant. I see now that Harper and Knox's story isn't over yet, there's more to come and I for one can't wait! I'm on tenterhooks waiting for the 'premonition' to come true! Well, the first part of it at least, I like Lucifer, am very keen for them to get a move on with it haha!

Defeat the enemy. Win the boy. Live happily ever after. But life "ever after" isn't as easy as it used to be. Harper's gone from being a member of a small demon lair to co-Prime of one of the most powerful lairs in the US with a mate who, though hot as hell, is just a mite overprotective - I mean, you get kidnapped by dark practitioners just once ...

Then one of Knox's demons goes rogue, and in his madness decides Knox Thorne must die. Harper's worried. Knox isn't - at least until he discovers his mate's willingness to get between him and danger.

Now, Knox has a new priority: Keep Harper safe ...no matter what it takes. But Harper begins to suspect there's more danger than one rogue demon. It seems the combined strength of Harper and Knox has upset the balance of power in the demon world and there are those who are determined to right that wrong. Because when you move up the food chain, sometimes the other predators just want to take a bigger bite.

Review: Black Sheep by Tabatha Vargo

*****5 Stars*****

Another fantastic read from this author that is an emotional rollercoaster that grips you from the heart-breaking prologue and pulls you along.
Tyson’s life has been pure hell and after doing what no child should have to endure at the hands of his own parent he takes drastic action and from the start you want him to be happy. When he ends up with the Palmer family you can’t help but breathe a sigh of relief that he is going to be ok but Tyson is his own judge and jury and won’t let go of his past actions making him a dark and broody character.
Nicole is lovely and I loved how she went after what she wanted in Tyson and though their relationship was complicated by the bond of fostering you are rooting for them both. The push and pull from Tyson was to be expected but I loved how no matter what Nicole stood by him.
A both heart breaking yet sweet story of these two tragic characters that left me in tears so keep the tissues to hand.

Review: Neighbors (Twin Estates #1) by Stylo Fantome

*****5 Stars*****

I loved this book and couldn’t put it down, it was a hot, sexy and at times frustrating read. I love this authors style of writing and this is another fantastic read that keeps you turning the pages.
Katya was frustrating and at times I wanted to shake her but I could relate to her wanting to step out of her boring life to push her limits and find herself. When a fake profile on a dating site brings her to the attention of her neighbour Liam, it seemed like Katya was going to go on a particular journey of discovery only for a face from her past to suddenly reappear and complicate things. Suddenly she is juggling two hot sexy men and her life is spiralling so fast that she can’t get off.
I loved both Liam and Wulf for their own individual traits that both seemed to be bringing Katya out of her shell and I felt for her because I wouldn’t be able to choose between them either. Though at times I wanted to shake Wulf. I loved the twists to the story and my heart hurt for Katya but I am excited to see where this story takes her in the next book.

Review: The Trouble with Mistletoe (Heartbreaker Bay #2) by Jill Shalvis

*****4.5 Stars*****

Jill Shalvis is hands down one of my most favorite Contemporary Romance authors. I have been reading and loving her books for longer than I can remember. No one writes sweet, sexy and funny contemporaries quite like she does. The Trouble With Mistletoe is the second book in her newer series, Heartbreaker Bay, all about a group of friends who live in the same Courtyard. If there is one thing better than a Shalvis Contemporary Romance that would be a Holiday Shalvis Contemporary Romance.
Willa is living her dream after a rocky and difficult childhood. She spent her school years in and out of the system, but instead of leaving her jaded, she lives life with a smile and a desire to help those in need (though she, not surprisingly, has some trust issues that makes committing to a romantic relationship a challenge). She is the owner of South Bark Mutt Shop and now has the kind of friends that make up for never having a family or her own growing up.
One day during the holiday season, Keane walks into her shop. Keane is a handsome house flipper. He is looking for day care for his aunt's cat that he has had dropped in his lap. He is instantly drawn to Willa, but Willa seems to want nothing to do with him. Keane can't figure out why this beautiful stranger would seem to dislike him. Willa remembers him very well from her childhood, even if he seems to have no memories of her. Thus sets the stage for a truly enjoyable holiday read.
Willa is understandably cautious of Keane. Even though he seems quite different from the boy she remembers, she will never forget how he hurt her and isn't ready to take chances with her heart. Keane, for his part is pretty convinced he lacks the capacity to love, but he certainly cannot deny his attraction to Willa.
This book was so enjoyable. It was sweet, sexy and filled with Shalvis' magically dialogue that will keep you smiling page after page. Both Willa and Keane are such lovable and endearing characters you will not be able to keep from rooting for their happy ending.

Review: Transfer (The Retrieval Duet #2) by Aly Martinez

****3.5 Stars****

After reading book one, this was the book that I was dying to get my hands on. Where the first book was mainly about Roman and Elisabeth's relationship, this one is focused around Clare and her Happy Ever After, who for the purposes of this review shall be known as 'X'. (Revealing his name would give away too much for those who haven't yet read book one).
Now don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this book, but because of how intense the chemistry was between Roman and Elisabeth and how simply flawless that book was, I just felt that things were a lot less intense between Clare and X and dare I say that there were even moments where my mind began to drift. But to he fair, this was a very different story, in a way, despite this being a continuation of the story.
Some of the main revelations were revealed as an after thought and often when this is done, it dilutes the overall effect of the surprise for me. For example if the character is recalling a particular sad event, I'm not actually feeling that intense sadness with that person because the thing has already happened.
There were some gripping moments, however. Especially those scenes to do with Walt, who is one nasty, evil SOB.
Despite me thinking that it just wasn't possible, with all that couple from both books have been through, the ending couldn't have been more perfect. I'm just sad that I didn't quite get the same out of this book as I did the first, but still a well written story.

One story. Two couples.

I fell in love with a man who didn’t exist.

What started out as romance ended in hell.
His words turned to razor blades.
His kisses converted to fists.
His embrace became my cage.
His body transformed into a weapon, stealing parts of me until ultimately….
I broke.

I hated him.
My sole job in life became to protect our daughter.

I wasn’t sure I’d ever escape the prison he’d skillfully crafted from my fears.
Until the day our savior arrived.

This is the story of how I escaped the man who thought he owned me.
The transfer of my life and my family.

Review: Fire in the Blood (The Red Series #2) by Lily Freeman

*****5 Stars*****

I had really enjoyed a Little Band of Red and could not wait to read the next book in the trilogy. When we left PJ and Luke she was overcoming her concerns and trying to be the sub Luke wants and Luke had promised he would be content with what she could give him. Luke, is a Sadist and the fact that PJ is not into pain proved to be a large issue of concern for her. As this second book opens, Luke is convinced that PJ can be the perfect Masochist for him with a little help and guidance. So much for being content with what she was willing to offer (are we really surprised by this development? I pretty much saw that coming, kinks are hard to let go of when you have lived your life giving into them).
Given the tension between PJ and Luke this story felt like a roller coaster ride. Luke cannot believe PJ would walk away from him and what they can have over this (and, as I said, he is convinced she will get on board the pain loving train at his hands) and he is not dealing very well. PJ is also not dealing well with this and finds herself running to Elliot and Mika. Those are her sexy bisexual neighbors who I loved in book one. They are more than happy to add her to the mix and once she has three men with all very different personalities vying for her time and affections things get all kinds of complicated and interesting (refer back to roller coaster ride comment). PJ is trying really hard to not fall for either Elliot or Mika, but she's not exactly successful on that front.
I really enjoyed this book. I am not sure what I want to have happen for our characters. Lily Freeman has me all over the place in terms of my emotions. We still have one more book to go in this trilogy so we are left with another cliffhanger. Who will everyone end up with? How many hearts will be broken? Can PJ and Luke find some common kinky ground or are they just too different? What will happen to my beloved Elliot and Mika?! I have no clue and I will be anxiously awaiting book three to find out. I'll also mention that India continues to be my favorite character in this series. I really hope once this series continues past the initial trilogy she gets more page time!

Eight weeks ago, Polly Jayne Lester vanished.

With no explanation, no goodbyes; she walked away from one life, to start another.
Now based in London, she has a home: new friends, a new dog and – a Master. Luke Monroe is everything she never knew she wanted: dominant, sexy, passionate, and a sadist.
As their relationship develops, with her giving a little and him taking a lot, PJ is forced to explore the side of Luke she’s always found disconcerting, all under the watchful eyes of her neighbors Mika and Elliot, the other two men who have come to mean so much to her.

But at what price?

When tensions mount between the three unquestionably alpha males, PJ’s caught in the middle. With Luke’s demands intensifying, Elliot’s possessive behaviour becoming more and more evident, and Mika, always her soft place to fall, claiming a little more of her heart each day, she’s torn. She’s already learnt the hard way that love can hurt, and she thought she knew how much, but nothing could have prepared her for this.

‘Fire in the Blood’ is the second book in ‘The Red Series.’ It is not a stand-alone novel, and I would highly recommend that if you intend to read it, you read ‘A Little Band of Red’ first.

Although both are part of a larger series, the first three novels have been written as a complete trilogy, concluding with ‘To Catch a Flame’, due out in December 2016.

With that in mind, not all of your questions will be answered or all hearts mended. But I promise, in the end they will.

Warning: ‘Fire in the Blood’ includes m/f, m/m and m/m/f scenes as well as a darker event containing violence and elements of non-consent.

Review: Conflicted by Lisa Suzanne

*****4.5 Stars*****

This book contains cheating and she's also married!! Cheating isn't a hard limit for me BUT cheating in marriage is a big no no, BUT omg this book!!! I was hooked from the first few pages, I love angst in a book and Conflicted certainly fed my addiction.
Lucy is unhappy in her marriage to John, their marriage seemed stale and was definitely in a rut, she did try on several occasions to get that spark back but all attempts failed, then enter her hot, demanding and completely arrogant boss Cole. She finds herself getting the hots for him, I mean, who wouldn't? He treats her so bad but we do find out why?!
I really felt like I shouldn't enjoy this book due to the taboo subject but I loved every single word written. The sexual chemistry was off the chart hot between Lucy and Cole, I liked the way the character development grew within the book and as usual Lisa Suzanne's writing was brilliant and I really wouldn't hesitate to recommend this author and her books.

Review: Depths of Salvation (Love on the Edge #3) by Molly E. Lee

*****5 Stars*****

This is the second book I've read by Molly and I absolutely devoured it! It completely caught my attention from that gorgeous cover to the first word all the way to the last. I love her "Love on the Edge" series and how each book just keeps getting better and better. These books are unique and different from anything else I've read and they keep you interested and turning the pages till the very end when you are left wanting more. She immerses you into the character's world until you feel like you are right there with Connell and Sadie diving under the water, looking at this magnificent shipwreck that they are trying to preserve, and facing all the dangers they come across on their journey. Molly uses excellent imagery that paints a very vivid picture of the characters and their surroundings and it feels like you are actually right there with them. Molly has a way of bringing the pages to life and making you want to rethink your career options to become a storm chaser, a treasure seeker, or a preservationist/diver, just something more adventurous and with a bit of an adrenaline rush.
Sadie is a marine preservationist and her most recent site is a sunken old WWII cargo ship off the coast of the Bahamas. When a giant gas corporation threatens to blow it all up she is forced to prove her sites value to the Head of Government. Connell is the best underwater welder around and thrives with the dangers and close calls of his job. When Slade Industries offers him a dangerous job for a lot of cash, it's an offer he can't refuse. When Sadie's site threatens to cost him millions, he offers Connell the deal of a lifetime: 12 million dollars to get close to Sadie and prove to the Head of Government that her site isn't worth saving. Should be easy, right? What they never expected was to have an instant connection with one another. They are more alike than they realize with their love of the ocean and diving and that only brings them closer together. The more they get to know one another the harder they fall but what happens when his deal with Slade comes to light? Will he lose the woman that has finally healed his heart and who understands him?
I absolutely loved this book and did not want it to end! Molly completely brings the pages to life and fills you with hope and love and so much emotion. This was definitely one of those page turner books that keeps you completely captivated. I loved Connell and Sadie and the way they were different with one another and I just wanted them to get their happy ending. I can't wait to see what Molly has in store for us next!

When Slade Industries offers him a dangerous gig with a big pay off, he can’t wait to sign on. Should be easy money.

That is, until he meets Sadie. She’s a force to be reckoned with and the only woman who has ever been able to not only keep pace with him on a dive but completely surpass him on every level. After reading this I'm left wondering if I'm right in the head but one thing I do know is that these authors are seriously in need of some rainbows and unicorns to fluff them up lol. I can't even rehash the story because there's quite a few twisted elements to it leaving me wondering if any details would indeed spoil it. One thing I will say is I wanted to stick knitting needles in one characters eyes and flush heads down the toilet. My reactions were all over the place reading this, one minute I was widening my eyes as if I was watching a scary part of a horror movie, then the next minute I was drowning in pity and sadness for Jade and then all my anger would bubble to the surface. The ending killed me and in turn I wanted to seek the authors out and choke them whilst screaming at them give me the next book before I create my own with you as the lead characters and it won't be pretty haha. On a serious note though, do not read this if your squeamish or don't like dark reads. This isn't a pretty story and will offend if your easily offended. It's sick, twisted and horrific in places but it's really really amazingly good.
