This is one hell of a bloody, gory, psychological thriller. It features Cain, the son of infamous serial killer Adam Killion. Ever since Cain's father was imprisoned for his crimes when Cain was just a young teen he's struggled with his identity as his father's son. Struggled to separate himself from his father's crimes. To relieve the guilt of his genetics, Cain helps out the police with a special ability he has, to solve murders and put killers away.
Mercy is our female lead, she and Cain have a connection, she is the sole survivor of an evening 20 years ago when Killion (Cain's father) murdered her family. They both have been victims of this killer's cruelty.
I really enjoyed this gritty thriller, it's particularly twisted at times but that just makes for a more intense read. I do wonder whether this series will intersect with the Fatal Dreams series as both series have similar themes. If so I'll be interested to find out how this comes about.
This book finishes on a light cliff-hanger but nothing that will leave you frustrated. I look forward to the next book in this series and finding out where the author takes this story.
