Review: 72 Hours by Bella Jewel

****4 Stars****

Lara walked away from her relationship with Noah 3 months ago after walking into his office to find another woman in his lap kissing him. Without letting him explain Lara moved out of their apartment and moved in with her best friend Rachel. Whilst waiting for Rachel on their usual Friday night meet up in the bar they first met in, a handsome guy named Marco chats her up and buys her a drink. When Rachel is a no show Marco offers to take Lara for something to eat she accepts and they head through the park to where there is supposedly a cafe at the other side. Lara is feeling drowsy and think she's maybe experiencing the effects of the alcohol. Halfway through the park Noah turns up shouting at Lara and Marco but then next thing they know Lara has blacked out and Noah hits the ground and both are drugged. When Lara and Noah wake up they are in the middle of a forest with nothing but a simple note. Seventy Two hours to prepare themselves for his game. Once that time is up he will come for them and hunt them down. They will run, hide and try to escape. But they can't and they won't because he's made sure of it!

I don't know if I have processed this book enough in my mind in order to write this review and can't explain properly how I feel as I have mixed emotions. This is a story of survival and how love tramples all over evil when people come together. It isn't your average romance book as the story line is quite a bit different from anything I have ever read. It reminds me of that film The Running Man, where they are put in to an endless arena and the hunters are sent in to try find and kill them, minus the gimp suits of course. Anyway I really liked this book in a strange but good way and I think others will really enjoy reading it. The characters are strong although there was a couple of times I wanted to give Lara a shake but it didn't take anything away from the book. The only other really small gripes I have are I found it difficult at first to match the prologue with it's intended point of plot in the book and also I would have liked to have had a bit more background on the enemy and why he was doing what he was doing. This isn't Bella Jewels usual path of writing but it's equally as good and I think the majority of her fans will love it.
