Review: Preppy (The Life & Death of Samuel Clearwater #3) by T.M. Frazier

Ahhhhh what a brilliant end to a much loved character in the King series. I am so sad right now because I want so much to see Preppy's story go on and on forever. I do know T.M.Frazier is writing some adventures for a couple of side characters we have met throughout the series so hopefully we will see more of Preppy, King and Bear in those.

What can I say about part 3 of Preppy's story? It was just awesome and more. Preppy has changed since his months of hell in Chops hands. I found he could still be the bad boy we know protecting the ones he loves most but we also see the calm, sweet and loving softer side to him a lot. I can't work out which side of him I prefer so I will just go with I love all of him completely and utterly. The only little gripe I had and it's a teeny gripe, was that I think he lost some of his quirky sense of humour in this instalment but then there was the usual amount of drama that he seems to attract surrounding this book and some of it was really tough on him. Every time I see a pancake or a bow tie now I will always think of Preppy.

Dre has totally changed from her previous years and has become a fiercely independent woman who loves Preppy with all her heart. We have watched her over the course of the 3 books holding her own whilst becoming stronger than she's ever been whilst most women would have run a mile by now.

Overall If you haven't read this series and you can stomach dark matter in your books then get on this series now! 

Mrs Frazier my hat is off to you as the King series is in the number one spot of my top all time reads. I can't wait for the spin off stories you create especially Smoke's who seems to be our secret magician saviour, always pops up in the right place at the right time saving the day. He never however seems to stick around so I think his story may be an interesting one!

It's probably not too hard to imagine that one day, DNA may be used to help in this eternal quest which is the jumping off point for this gripping novel by John Marr.

In The One, scientists have discovered that that every Pearson shares a gene with only one other person. This gene links you to your soul mate and a decade later, instead of visiting Match.com, people are flocking to have their mouths' swabbed so a DNA test can help match them to their soulmate. Sounds perfect on paper, but in reality, a DNA that helps you find the one person meant for you is not without its drawbacks!

As the five characters in this book discover, DNA is scientific, but not perfect. Your match can be anywhere in the world, any gender, any age, any temperament and could also already be in a relationship. Plus, how can you be sure the person Science says you should be is even a decent human being?

I was captivated by this book and it's premise from page one. Though we follow five characters and their individual (and intersecting) storylines, the writing style and format made it easy to follow. Can something as absolute as science really control something as illogical as love? You'll definitely be asking yourself that question as you make your way through this gripping science fiction bent thriller.

Review: Revelry by Kandi Steiner

Wren needs to find herself again. Being divorced at twenty-seven was not in her plans and she is still trying to get her mind and emotions to come to terms with it. She decides spending a few months in a small mountain town is the perfect setting to rediscover who she is and figure out where she's going.

Once she arrives, everything looks perfect! Beautiful scenery, a cat and welcoming residents...except for one brooding make neighbor. Just her luck, when she has an unfortunate and embarrassing incident shortly after arriving her savior comes in the form of said man.

Anderson is also new to town and he is perfectly happy being left to his own devices. He's got demons he is dealing with and no one else needs to be subjected to them. Then he runs into Wren. It isn't long until he finds himself wanting to know why she is in pain and feeling a need to help her get over that pain. Maybe two wounded people are exactly what us needed to heal wounds and find hope for the future.

I really enjoyed this book. Wren and Anderson are dealing with a lot of pain and baggage, but they slowly heal together and it was so beautiful to watch. There is angst here and this is definitely an emotional read but the ending more than makes up for it. Another great read by Steiner!

Review: Unfinished Night The Complete Duet by Violet Duke

Book 1: Before That Night 

This is a short novella that introduces the main characters Addison and Caine along with Addisons siblings Tanner and Kylie. I really enjoyed this book that had me pulled into Addison’s situation from the offset and praying that she found a way out from the plight she is in. 

Addison is naïve in some ways but given her background is also quite mature for her age and savvy when it comes to protecting her brother and sister. We find Addison in dire straits, homeless after her drug addict mother has bailed on them all but Addison is determined to keep them together and sets out to do just that. 

She meets Caine a grufty cop while working at the diner and their attraction to each other is immediate but not something they act on. When a situation with an infatuated customer puts her in danger and at risk of losing her siblings Caine steps in to help. I loved the tension between these two and was hoping that they would finally get together only for the author to leave us hanging and thankful that I am reading this as a complete duet so straight on to the next part of their story. 

Book 2: Every Night Without You 

We catch up with Caine and Addison seven year after THAT night and find Caine bereft at losing his chance at happiness in the name of honour and duty. We find Addison doing great on a professional level and still looking after her sibling’s best interests. 

A chance encounter sees her and Caine come back into each other’s lives and I was thinking finally they can get things sorted but once again they put responsibility before their own happiness. However, Caine isn’t going to lose another seven years and finds ways to see Addison. 

Things quickly step up in many ways and this is an action packed read with many parts of Addisons life finally catching up with her but will she make the right decisions this time around? 

Overall this is a great read with plenty of enjoyable characters that has a lovely love story at its core and plenty of action to keep you turning the pages. It’s a brilliant opener to the Unfinished Love series that I am looking forward to reading more of.

Review: Dirty Thief (Dirty Players #4) by Tia Louise

I'll start by saying this is part of a series and you really will not get the full impact of this story unless you read at least the first two books in the series before jumping into this one.

Louise returns to her Dirty Player world with Dirty Thief and it is just as fun and sexy as the previous three books. We finally get to spend more time with Ava, the beautiful, spunky Thief that stole the heart of King Rowan. If you're like me, you probably loved them in the previous books. I was wanting more of their story and was thrilled when I found out book four was all about them.

Ava and Rowan's love and passion literally jumps off the page. I love the BDSM aspects of their bedroom play and both characters have such fun and captivating personalities. The suspense was at the forefront of this story since a man from Ava's past shows up and it brings her life into turmoil.

I'm a long time fan of Tia Louise, having read basically everything she has written to date and I have a real soft spot for her Dirty Players series. Spunky Thieves and the Royalty that fall for them is such a great premise and she executes it perfectly. Great addition to the series!

Review: Too Hard To Forget (Romancing The Clarksons #3) by Tessa Bailey

Tessa Bailey returns to her Romancing the Clarksons series with Too Hard to Forget. As I have said previously, I really enjoy this series. The characters are engaging, the dialogue is amusing and as is to be expected from anything Bailey touches, the love scenes are smoking hot. There is always that worry with a series that new books will not hold the magic and appeal of previous books. That is no something to worry about here. If anything, each new Clarksons book gets better!

In Too Hard to Forget we get Peggy and her story of second chance love. I was really excited for Peggy's story and boy did this surpass my expectations. Peggy decides to use this family road trip as the perfect opportunity to get some romantic closure at her college. She may seem like a superficial, self-centered man-eater on the outside, but deep down she is still dealing with the hurt left over when Elliott broke her heart ending their relationship once she graduated.

Elliott is a man being eaten alive by grief. He feels like he has always let his family down and is especially torn apart over not being their when a tragic accident took his wife's life. Bow he's left shattered, barely able to breathe past his grief and finding it hard to connect with his daughter.

When Peggy arrives, Elliott is a different man. She planned to reconnect to him and this time be the one to break a heart and never look back. You know what they say about best laid plans. Peggy sees the good in Elliott and finds herself wanting to help him heal. For his part, Elliott appreciates Peggy in a way he never could have when they first were together.

This second change romance had everything! Fabulous characters, past angst, groveling, wooing and sexy times aplenty. This may be my favorite book in the series to date which is saying something since the first two books were fabulous in their own ways.

Review: Ends Here (Road To Nowhere #2) by M. Robinson

This one was a hard one for me to rate just like the first one. I struggled with the pacing but not nearly as much as I did with the first book. This is Mia & Creed's second book takes off where the cliffhanger leaves us hanging at the end of book one and this book was action packed and filled with tragic events, sexy times, emotional moments, drama, and maybe even a HEA. You'll have to one-click to find that out.

I really liked Creed in this book!! His love for Mia is unwavering and he proves that to her over and over again throughout both books. He is so deserving of her whereas he had made me question him in book one. He was such a great mix of alpha and sweet and perfect for Mia. I loved Mia even more in this book and felt for everything she had to endure. I may have even shed a tear or two. I just wanted to take her into my arms and give her a big huge hug. I think she was confused about what she really wanted throughout the second half of this book which is very understandable given her circumstances.

Ends Here was the perfect conclusion to Mia & Creeds story and I couldn't have hoped for a better story. That epilogue alone; swoon! Thanks M for another awesome story!

Review: Paper Fools by Staci Hart

What do you get when two Greek Gods who love to play games, use two unsuspecting humans as their pawns? A solidly entertaining read! Staci Hart tackles Greek mythology against the backdrop of a contemporary NA romance in Paper Fools and I loved every minute of it!

Aphrodite's personal life is a mess. She'd much rather mettle in the affairs of human love than deal with her own issues. She and Apollo are in engaged in a continuous game involving poor unsuspecting humans. If Aphrodite can make two selected people fall in love in a month, she wins. If she can't Apollo wins. Love is her speciality and she has no plans to lose.

Lex and Dean are the two poor unsuspecting souls who are about to have their hearts mettled with. There is an immediate attraction between them, but neither is willing to risk the professional fallout or personal hurt taking a chance in each other would involve. They soon find out that staying apart is easier said than done, especially when two very determined Greek gods are at work behind the scenes.

I enjoyed Paper Fools tremendously. Hart does an excellent job juggling Greek Mythology along with a contemporary romance storyline. This plays out almost like two novels since we have the Greek storyline happening along with Lex and Dean's story. I've read a number of romance over the years that have elements of Greek Mythology, but this one took a unique approach I found intriguing and refreshing. I'm very much looking forward to seeing where this series takes us next.

Review: The Player (#1) by K. Bromberg

This book is a prime example that K Bromberg is definitely an author to be reckoned with. Being the first book in a two part series, or so I'm led to believe, is one of the reasons this book took me by complete surprise.

I love to hate Cliffhangers and I'm not saying this book has a cliffhanger, but imagine this....Me over dramatically falling to my knees at the end and crying out Noooooooooo! Yeah thats how this book made me feel, but that's a good thing, apart from the fact that I now need book 2 like I need air to breathe, but this book got me hook, line and sinker.

Easton Wylder, hot shot baseball player for the Austin Aces, has been out of action due to a potentially career threatening injury. His hope for a swift return lies in the hands of Scout Dalton, Physical Therapist.

As with all good books the lead characters had incredible chemistry. Easton's humour was playful and add that to his extreme sexiness and an air of vulnerability, but still maintaining an alpha male quality, made him absolutely perfect.

From the very beginning I easily got into Scout's mindset and what I loved about her was her sarcasm and wit, especially towards Easton, but at the same time it touched me how much she just needed someone to love her, but feeling like she had noone to turn to.

It isn't very often that a book takes me by complete surprise and a lot of this may have been that I went into this blindly, having not even read the synopsis.

K Bromberg is simply just one of those authors for me, where by I'm fairly confident I'm going to be immersed in another world for a few hours and this book did not disappoint in any way, shape or form.
