Review: Shine Not Burn (Shine Not Burn #1) by Elle Casey

****4 Stars****

This book starts with us meeting both main characters in their "natural habitats" Andie in her office and Mack in his field on a horse. They are both basically forced by loyalty to go to Vegas. Andie for her best friends hen party and Mack for his brothers stag party. Andie is dumped by her asshole boyfriend on the way over, this completely screws up the 5year plan. However she decides to let loose and deal with it when she... gets back, after all this weekend isn't about her it's about her friend. Mack the hot cowboy is as equally not interested in going to Vegas, actually he's not really interested in anything outside his family, farm and home town. The only reason he is in Vegas is because his brother is moving across the country after the wedding and it'll be a while before they're together again. And well you know someone has to make sure the groom has a good time and get him home in one peice. Mix all that with the bright lights of Vegas and a little too much to drink and you get this sexy, sassy and a little bit of tongue in cheek book.
What happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas, after a wild weekend Andie Marks goes back to her perfect little five year plan thinking nothing of her time in Vegas.
Fast forward 2 years, her life is on track and shes engaged to married. Then she's told that she's already married ... Que the dramatic music. Andie now has to go hunt down the man she married to get a divorce, before her fiancé finds out. There's one problem though ... She and Mack the sexy cowboy have an obvious connection. From the moment she lays eyes on him again she feels it, they both do. And for me this is where it starts to remind me a little of Sweet Home Alabama, which isn't a bad thing... I love that film, however it did then skew my view of the book just slightly and I spent the rest of it mentally comparing the two.
I really did enjoy this book it was full of laughs and a good awkward moment or two and I would definitely read it again. I love Andie and Mack and hope to read more from them in the future. This is the first book I've read by Elle Casey but it won't be the last!

Synopsis

Andie Marks, known as “Party Girl” in her college days, is now a whip-smart lawyer on the fast track to success. Determined to move on from a bad break-up, she joins her girlfriends for a wild bachelorette weekend in Las Vegas, promising to let her hair down just this once.
Vegas is a blur of cocktails and blackjack, and in the middle of it all she meets Mack, a real-life cowboy with a winning hand and an irresistible body. They get lucky in the casino and luckier back at the hotel, a hot night of passion that was definitely not part of Andie’s life plan.
By dawn Mack is gone and all she has to remember their one-night romance is a hangover and a pile of casino chips. Or so she thinks…
