Review: The Deep End by Kristen Ashley

*****5 Stars*****

So, this book is apparently surrounded by controversy. People seems quite upset Ashley is venturing into a BDSM heavy series and writing a book about a male submissive. Personally, when I heard that Ashley was beginning a BDSM series, I couldn't get a copy fast enough. I didn't even realize at first it had a male submissive. Once I did, I was even more excited! Erotic romances featuring male submissives are greatly underrepresented in the genre. I have had the pleasure of reading a few and they have been a real treat.

In The Deep End, we get introduced to the Honey Club, a decadent place where alpha men are pleasure slaves (yes those two things are NOT mutually exclusive). They are committed to fulfilling every desire the women that venture through the doors can dream up. Along the way their boundaries are tested and these men are able to tap into their most hidden and secret desires.

Amelie sees Olivier at the Honey Club and is instantly drawn to him. The prospect of seeing that strong impressive man on his knees before her is too much to pass up. Olivier has some reservations, but he joined the Honey Club to explore that hidden dark part of himself that is dying to be a part of the lifestyle the Club offers. Soon, Amelie has him exploring desires he never even dared give voice to and he loves every minute of it. It isn't long before the connection between Amelie and Olivier is deepening. Soon, they both crave a relationship beyond the kink, but Olivier's past may keep that dream from becoming a reality.

I loved this book. It was right up my alley and catnip for my BDSM loving soul, but I appreciate that this will not be for everyone. Some Kristen Ashley fans may not be able to deal with the kink and some BDSM fans, may not be able to get past Ashley's writing style which is quite lyrical. If you are willing to step out of your comfort zone, this is a sexy and well written story about two beautifully written and compelling characters. Amelie and Olivier have the sweetest relationship. I just adored watching them interact. There are also all of these interesting secondary characters I am anxious to learn more about in future books. I cannot recommend this book enough. So glad Ashley ventured out of her usual genres to give us this treat!

Enter a decadent sensual world where gorgeous alpha males are pleasure slaves committed to fulfilling a woman's every desire. At the elite Honey club, no boundary will be left untested, and one's darkest desires will become a sensual reality.

Olivier isn’t sure what he’s gotten himself into when he joins the Honey Club, only that a dark part of him craves the lifestyle offered by this secret, exclusive club.

When Amèlie invites Olivier to surrender, she pushes him to explore his deepest desires as a submissive. As they grow closer and find themselves falling harder than either of them anticipated, the truth about Olivier’s past could threaten the budding relationship they both long for.

Gripping and seductive, The Deep End is the first book in a sensational new series from bestselling author Kristen Ashley.
