Review: Touching Down by Nicole Williams

****4 Stars****

Both Grant Turner and Ryan Hale saved each other in their turbulent childhoods living in the Clink. Then at 17 years old Ryan got up and left with not a single word to anyone not even Grant the love of her life. Fast forward 7 years and she's back to say goodbye to the one woman who cared for not just her but all the deprived kids struggling in the Clinks neighbourhood. Ryan had huge secrets that she had to spill to Grant who is now a huge superstar football player, but he's still angry with her, so when he finally talks and she reveals things it only shows the love he had for her has anything but diminished from him. There's another secret though and Grant us determined he won't lose her this time so does everything in his power to be the hero again. Can they survive long enough to lead the dream life they never got as kids?
Second chance love stories get me cheerleading for a couple every single time. It's like the inner child is squealing inside me just for the awwwwww how sweet factor. This one was no different. I championed Grant and Ryan the whole way through. There was a lot of sad moments though that tugged at my stone cold heartstrings leaving me thinking my heart does infact work in sympathy with others, but then at the same time I was angry with Ryan for waiting 7 years to spill a secret and felt that her reasons for coming back wasn't out of choice and more for help, so I leaned towards championing Grant to make her suffer a bit. This is where it dropped a star for me, even though reasons were explained it still came down to people having that choice. However overall this was another fantastic read from Nicole Williams. I definitely need a Grant in my life that's for sure.

The whole world might be in love with him. But all he’s ever loved is her.

Grant Turner’s name is synonymous with football. The fans and media can’t get enough of the player known as The Invincible Man, a nickname he earned while growing up in one of the toughest neighborhoods in the country and the nickname he’s kept by being one of the best players in professional football today. No one can take him down. He’s unstoppable.

But even a suit of armor has its weak point, and Grant’s has always been Ryan Hale.

They were a couple of kids when they fell in love, and just when it looked like the happy ending neither expected was within reach, Ryan disappeared. No explanations. No good-byes.

Grant coped by throwing himself into the game for seven years, and he’s finally moved on. Or so he thinks.

When she walks back into his life, all of those feelings come crashing back, despite the warnings in his head that tell him she’ll leave him again. Grant can withstand the league’s toughest defensive line, but he’s always been weak where she’s concerned.

No man can take Grant Turner down.

But one woman certainly can.

One woman will.
