Review: Hard Rules (Dirty Money #1) by Lisa Renee Jones

*****5 Stars*****

This book, Hard Rules, book #1 in the new Dirty Money series by Lisa Renee Jones gets off to a gripping start and only grows from there.
I love that there are layers to the story and characters and there's so much left unsaid, keeping you turning the page and I absolutely loved it!
Shane is a great character. Bright, strong and fighting for the survival of his family's legacy, he's got an uphill battle. As he gathers the things he needs to win, he's got few he can truly trust.
Emily is holding onto her own secrets tightly. She's a great character - stronger than she may first appear - but what is it that she's hiding?
There are so many unanswered questions in the book but I love working out where I think the story is going and then seeing whether I'm right.
This first book does end on a cliffhanger - and it's all very murky. We, the readers, are left with some clarifying information but once trust is broken, can it ever be mended?
This is a brilliant book that's well written, captivating and I need - not want but need - book #2 in this series now!
