Review: Sway (Landry Family Series #1) by Adriana Locke

*****5 Stars*****

This is a fantastic start to this new series and the Landry family certainly seem to have a stock of hot men that are going to be fun to read if Barrett is anything to go by. This is a politics based book but it isn’t over the top on the political side of things and concentrates more on the impact the career has on people’s personal lives. It has a cast of great characters that promise a lot from this series of standalone reads. ...
Ali is a single mother that has been so badly let down by her ex-husband that she is wary of relationships so she is concentrating on ensuring she can do her best for her son by working two jobs while studying. When her job brings her to the attention of the kind of man she definitely wants to avoid Ali tries to stand by her conviction to not get involved. I like Ali she is a good strong character that stayed true to herself throughout the book.
Barrett Landry is just yummy and a great strong character who makes no apologies for the man he is and his past conquests. He is the town mayor and candidate for governor and he is very much a confirmed bachelor. Until he encounters Ali who puts him into a spin while he tries to work out his attraction to her. Barrett has a lot of skeletons in his closet and while running his campaign his advisers are telling him a relationship is bad timing but he is determined to see where his attraction leads.
I loved how the relationship between Ali and Barrett grew and the relationship Barrett developed with Ali’s son Huxley. And I honestly don’t think I’ll ever look at grapes the same way again.
Overall this is an enjoyable read without a lot of angst but plenty of drama to keep you entertained. I have read this author from her first book and I love how she is going from strength to strength with each book and Sway is a flawlessly written and well-constructed read. I can’t wait to read more from this series.

BARRETT LANDRY has it all.
Power, prestige, and plenty of women, the dapper politician’s life is pretty phenomenal. But in the midst of the biggest campaign of his life, he needs to focus. The last thing he can afford is a distraction.

ALISON BAKER is a work-in-progress.
As a single mother to HUXLEY, she’s rebuilding life on her terms. She’s focused on family, faith, and a future for her son that can’t be taken away. Putting her child first means not being careless, no matter what.

A chance encounter forces Barrett and Alison to redefine what they really want out of life. But everything comes at a cost ... and sometimes, even for love, it’s a price too steep to pay.
