Review: Edge of Surrender (Alpha Crew #2) by Laura Griffin

****3.5 Stars****

After being so eager to read this second and final installment, as far as Emma and Ryans story is concerned, I have to say I didn't quite enjoy it as much as the first book. However, for a short story, this certainly wasn't a hardship.
Both books have a Thriller element to them and I have to say I have read far grittier ones in this genre.
Emma and Ryan arrived back on US soil and this book picks up where book one ended and it is clear there is more at play than just an accident which caused the plane, Emma was travelling in, to crash.
As for the sex scenes, well there was more than the single one that featured in the first book and while there was nothing that made them stand out for me, any sex scene involving a Navy Seal is pretty hot.
I think my main issue is the length of these books for no other reason than I think the storyline itself suffered as a result. The idea was good, but diluted by the fact that each book is the size of a standard novella. I have no issue with entire series being made up of books this size, so maybe a 3 or 4 part series, with more character build up and emphasis on the suspense would have been more beneficial. That being said, I am aware that some people are reluctant to read series of short books, but I am confident that with more substance and grit, readers would be happy on the whole.
