I love this author she has fast became one of my top 5 and this is another book that doesn't disappoint. After reading all 4 books in the King Series I found out that this book was the Jake & Abby's story which was before we met King. It's not a light hearted story and will tug you way out your comfort zone but it's well worth it. Abby is beyond repair after the horrendous childhood she has endured by her parents and to top it all off her grandmother whom has looked after her the last few years is killed in an explosion. Abby then runs from childrens services as she is only 17 and doesn't want to be put back in the system. This is where Jake finds her camping out in her grandma's old truck in his dads yard. Jake saves Abby from children's services by telling them he is her cousin and will be taking her in and gives her a place to say, Abby is shell-shocked but grateful he wants to help but he soon finds out she is an empty shell living in fear. Jake has his own torments in life his upbringing was happy until tragedy strikes leaving his own father wanting to kill him. Finally when Jake and Abby start to break barriers and Jake goes away for work life for Abby takes a tragic turn of events. Can they both survive or will everything be a lost cause? You need to read to find out.
I totally loved this book, it gripped me from the beginning and I inhaled in in a matter of a couple of hours or so. It's very disturbing in some parts and will shock some so if you don't like graphic dark reads then don't pick it up. For those of you who love a good dark read then you won't be disappointed.
